This group looks at mental health and learning disabilities issues.
Mental Health and Learning Disabilities

Introduction


This group, (MHLD) is chaired by Michael Downing, previously mayor of Stevenage, and meets bi-monthly, usually in Hatfield, and aims to improve local services in Hertfordshire.

The groups recent focus includes:
 
  • Monitoring improvements since All Together Now workshop, through a public engagement meeting
  • Monitering the Lead by Design Pilot
  • Participating in the HPFT Quality Accounts and lead on LINk response to final set of accounts
  • Monitor the AIR programme through a representative on the focus group to redesign services at Harperbury
  • Causeway Campaign
  • Supported Living Campaign for adults with HF Autism - a speaker will be invited to a meeting & issues raised with the JCT
  • Care Pathways for prisoners with Learning Disabilities at Mount Prison - a speaker will be invited to a meeting & possible training sessions to be set up for prison staff
  • Exploring LINks role in changing GP attitudes towards MH & LD patients
  • Police work with vulnerable people - a speaker from the police will be invited to a meeting
  • Monitor the effects of budget cuts on MHLD services - organise a workshop for third sector LINk member organisations

 

Ongoing activity and the 2012-2013 focus:

 

  • Monitoring the Leading by Design Pilot
  • Monitering adult in- patient re- provisioning and other acute in service provision
  • Supporting the review of CAMHS Child and Family Clinics, collaborating with carers in Herts and Herts Parent Carer Involvement
  • Causeway Campaign
  • JCT'S Accommodation Strategy
  • HPFT Quality Accounts
  • Monitoring of Kingsley Green, especially in regards to transport and access to/ from Kingsley Green to other acute units 
  • Dual diagnosis
  • Monitoring the effects of budget cuts on mental health and learning disabilities services
  • Having representation at appropriate meetings in regards to Autism, and continuing to be informed about the issue.
